Preliminary Evaluation of Gunshot Residue (GSR) Using 3-Aminophenol as a Substitute in Modified Griess Test

چکیده
In forensic ballistics, gunshot residue (GSR) particles can be detected using screening or presumptive tests which are mainly focused on the chromophoric reaction. Most serve as an initial indication for a investigator at crime scene before instrumental analysis definitive identification. The methods known to convenient, have fast analysis, and minimal preparation. GSR well-known method of detecting Modified Griess Test (MGT) requires acid heat Therefore, this study demonstrated new rapid test named Rapid (RGT) detection GSR. This intends improve functionality previous reagents in determining nitrite (NO2–), composition present after shooting activity. To do this, chemical with amino group, 3-aminophenol, were substituted alpha-naphthol. experiment showed that reactions positive color changes standard NO2– real samples. diazotization involving sulfanilic 3-aminophenol produced azo dyes changed solution from colorless orange presence NO2–. RGT reagent will make it possible avoid addition acetic acids sample form reactions. Moreover, colorimetric Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) had higher intensity when compared MGT.

متن کاملUsing Scrap Tires in EAFs as a Substitute for Carbon
EAF plants normally consume coal and coke as reactants, alloying elements, or fuel. The price of these materials varies from € 0.20-0.35/kg. This is while nearly 10 million pieces of tires are annually discarded in Iran. The present study shows that scrap tires can be used as a substitute for coal and coke in EAF plants. Thirteen grades of steel including low, medium, and high carbon steels as ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Gunshot Residue Deposited on Cotton Cloth Target at Close Range Shooting Distances
The study of gunshot residue (GSR) has become imperative in forensic firearm examination. It may be used to estimate firing distance, to identify bullet holes and to determine whether or not a person has discharged a firearm. This study emphasized on the examination of the pattern of GSR particles deposited on cotton cloth target at different shooting distances (3 inch-12 inch). Two types of pi...
